Seismic multi-attribute integration for prospect generation

Seismic multi-attribute integration for prospect generation in South Main Soldado Field, Gulf of Paria, Trinidad & Tobago. Sierra, J., Campos, H., Bonilla, M., Marin, W. Joseph, D., and Cardinez, S., 2009. The Leading Edge 28, 684.

SUMMARY

The main purpose of this study was to establish the sedimentary environment for sand distribution to reduce uncertainty in the generation of new prospects downdip and south of Main Soldado Field. Petrotrin Trinmar decided to perform a spectral decomposition combined with elastic inversion to evidence and highlight structural and stratigraphic features not easily seen with traditional seismic interpretation. Soldado is within an extensively explored sedimentary basin with significant remnant amounts of hydrocarbons in small and isolated, thin stratigraphic reservoirs.

Seismic elastic inversion for lithology discrimination in Miocene formations

Seismic elastic inversion for lithology discrimination in Miocene formations, Southwest Soldado Field, Gulf of Paria, Trinidad & Tobago. Sierra, J., Paz, D., Cova, C., Marin, W. and Cardinez, S., 2008. XIV Venezuelan Geophysical Congress.

SUMMARY

This paper shows the results of performing a post stack elastic seismic inversion with the purpose of identifying possible lithology/hydrocarbon indicators for deep water deposit reservoirs of Miocene-Pliocene age, located at the Southwest Soldado field, offshore Trinidad & Tobago. In addition, petrophysics and rock physics analysis were integrated, as well as previous spectral decomposition study results, in order to generate probability maps of sand distribution.

Seismic elastic inversion in high-impedance sands of Miocene age

Seismic elastic inversion in high-impedance sands of Miocene age in South Main Soldado Field, Gulf of Paria, Trinidad & Tobago. Sierra, J., Paz, D., Cova, C., Marin, W. and Cardinez, S., 2008. XIV Venezuelan Geophysical Congress.

SUMMARY

The objective of this paper is to show the methodology and results on defining a lithology and fluid indicator in an exploration area offshore Trinidad, and delimiting possible prospect areas with oil sands, based on elastic seismic attributes. As a complement to the methodology, a spectral decomposition analysis was included in order to increase the confidence on the results.

SUMMARY

The objective of the present document is to describe an integrated quality management approach for the identification and delineation of subtle stratigraphic prospects in offshore Trinidad´s Southern Basin, specifically in the South Main Soldado Field; an extensively explored sedimentary basin with remnant significant amounts of hydrocarbon in small and isolated stratigraphic thin reservoirs. The approach consists in the use of advanced tools to interpret 3D seismic data in a synergistic manner with other geosciences data, including windows-based seismic attributes, rock physics, petrophysics, seismic facies classification, acoustic and elastic seismic inversion, spectral decomposition, and volume visualization and interpretation.

The main purpose of this study was to establish the sedimentary environment for sand distribution in order to reduce the uncertainty in the well prospect location. Also, this study served to evaluate the potential to seismically discriminate lithology and fluids through the use of elastic inversion derived attributes.

SUMMARY

The objective of the present document is to report the results obtained from the study of Acoustic and Elastic Seismic Inversion, rock physics analysis and Spectral Decomposition for generating new prospective areas in the Southwest Soldado Field, in offshore Trinidad’s Southern Basin, Petrotrin.

The method followed in this project was based on Seismic Inversion and Spectral Decomposition Techniques for image enhancement and the identification of structural and stratigraphic features. In addition, petrophysics and rock physics analysis were integrated based on each seismic attribute uncertainty and sedimentary environment for sand distribution.

A complete analysis over two different seismic horizons was performed. A secondary but not less important purpose of the study was to evaluate the potential to seismically discriminate lithology and fluids through the use of elastic inversion derived attributes. The results obtained were then integrated along with amplitude maps, well information and structural and sequence stratigraphy seismic study.
